Mission Statement
The 911 Peace Coalition of Orange County is a broad-based group of concerned citizens and organizations that shares our nation's profound grief and outrage in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks. We abhor all acts of violence, whether committed by an individual, organization or government, and recognize the sancitity of life without regard to borders. To this end, we commit to: Inform the American public in the history of international relations focusing on the role of U.S. foreign policy and its contribution to the acts of terrorism against the United States and other nations. Inform the public about the way multinational-corporation-led globalization largely dictates U.S. foreign policy and its egregious effects: the politics of oil, exploiting national resources and labor, etc. Oppose stereotyping and racial profiling of any group, including but not limited to Middle Eastern and South Asian peoples and Muslims of all countries. Defend civil liberties by challenging hastily enacted legislation that erodes basic constitutional and human rights of citizens and resident non-citizens. Advocate alternatives to a military response and non-violent solutions to conflicts. Suggested Links
